hearts of three

Jack London said about this novel himself, "I have written some novels of adventure in my time, but never, in all of the many of them, have I perpetrated a totality of action equal to what is contained in 'Hearts of Three'." This is an adventure novel where we find the story of the life of two men who are very alike in appearance and hunt for treasure in the South Sea Islands. The plot of the book keeps readers attentive and even a bit strained as the main characters get into many adventures. Though being thrilling and full of events the novel is full of nice moments which add to it the old charm.

The Scarlet Letter

The most famous and significant novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, one of the great American fiction authors of the 19th century, novelist and short-story writer. His work was based on the history of his Puritan ancestors and the New England of his own day but, in its “power of blackness”, has universal significance. The Scarlet Letter, published in 1850, brought him world renown and made him a classic of American literature. This work, set in seventeenth-century Boston, follows the life of Hester Prynne, a young woman who had an affair with the Puritan minister Arthur Dimmesdale and gave birth to their illegitimate daughter. For her love she became outcast, sentenced to wear a scarlet letter “A” - for adultery - on her clothes for the rest of her life. This masterpiece of literature is a story of the weak, carrying her “disgrace” with dignity, of her boundless strength of mind.

The Three Musketeers

"The Three Musketeers" is a novel written by Alexandre Dumas, the father, in the 17th century. In the book it goes about adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan and his inseparable friends Athos, Porthos, and Aramis who live by the motto "all for one, one for all". Under the observation of their patron M. de Treville, these four brave men defend the honour of the regiment against the guards of Cardinal Richelieu, and the honour of the queen against the intrigues of the Cardinal himself as the power struggles of 17th century France are brightly played out in the background. But the greatest danger is the Cardinal's spy, Milady, one of literature's most memorable female villains. Dumas succeeded in applying all his narrative skills to tell one of the most exciting and breathtaking stories in the world’s literature.
